Florence Hutchings utilizes collage in her boldly coloured paintings that depict various interior scenes. Borrowing from cubism, the items and lines are depicted in chunky, blocky forms and the world of Huthings is shown in a sort of flattened manner with two dimensional objects, which interferes with the viewer’s depth perception. At first upon glancing Hutching’s works, the viewer might not even realize what they are looking at, but after a while the forms fall into order and begin making sense and that makes for a compelling viewing experience. Hutchings received her BFA with First Class Honours from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2019. Since then, Hutchings has shown in several group and solo exhibitions in Europe, USA and Asia.
