Andrée Heuschling was the last model that Renoir painted. She arrived at Renoir’s home in Cagnes-sur-mer in 1917, reinvigorating the aging artist, who was suffering from crippling arthritis and mourning the loss of his wife. Renoir was captivated by the young woman’s vivaciousness and beauty. He painted more than 100 pictures of the strawberry-blond Andrée before his death.
