Alejandro Piñeiro Bello’s acrylic paintings are made with large amounts of liquids, giving them a watercolory feel. Piñeiro Bello respects his intuition and paints the images that occur in his mind, without following any pre-made plans. "The strokes and shapes just manifest as they come, and at times create something figurative and recognizable, at other times something more abstract. The paintings are like meditations where I don’t control the images that appear.”, he tells about his practice. “My work is about a free flow of ideas." The process is an interplay between the planned and the random occurrences. Piñeiro Bello has a history working in multiple mediums, but he is most fascinated with painting. He is interested in the precise moment when an idea takes shape: the state where the idea has not yet taken form, but the essence of it is clear. That unexpected situation where something grabs the imagination and leads one to a trance. One idea turns into another and keeps on evolving, transforming, creating a chain of processes after finally an artwork springs forth.
